Tour Diary - GA/FL 14-20 2007

Town: Boston, Massachusetts / Charlotte, North Carolina
Gig: Travel Day
Valentine's day brought little love for GangGreen from either mother nature or USAir. A winter storm cancelled the flight to Atlanta from Boston for Matty, Wally and Rockin' Bob. We managed to get on the last flight out of the airport that night (check our luggage and pay $20 less than it took to fly Matt to get our 100 lb merch bag on the flight) and ended up in Charlotte, North Carolina. Unfortunately, two of our six bags (Wally's drum gear and the merch bag, which contained Matty's personal affects as well - SUPER!) didn't. Two hours later, fiscal bleeding begins as we need a rental car for a pleasant overnight ride to Charlotte. Arrive at our crappy motel at 4 AM to find the front desk locked and no way to check in. Sweet!
What went wrong: Flight cancelled, luggage lost, paid for motel but couldn't make use of it.
What went right: We could buy beer at 1 AM at the Quickee Mart.

Gig: The Drunken Unicorn
New day, new swanky priceline procured hotel digs - still no love from USAir as the lost luggage is still lost. Doherty arrives from Cincy with Big Ed from Houston. Hilarity ensues. Bob verbally kicks USAir's ass until the locate our bags. They're in charlotte. Sayeth the Rockin' one "can you get them on that 7:30 flight to Atlanta?" Respondeth USAir "mayhaps. we'll see."
Gig at the Drunken Unicorn with the Despised and Trash. We feel the love from USAir after soundcheck as our bags are in Atlanta. His Rockinness and Matt hop in the rental car which needs returning to ATL airport and get the bags. Matty's new hockey bag/luggage is 16 hours old but took a fucking beating at the hands and feet of USAir's luggage monkeys. the boys make it back to the venue in time for The Despised's set which fucking rocks.
GG plays and the Hotlanta crowd gives the boys the love, enthusiastically churning it up in the pit.
What went wrong: Luggage shenanigans, long lines at Varsity Burger Joint
What went right: At last the missing luggage arrives.

Town: Tallahassee, Florida
Gig: Beta Bar
Ride to Tallahassee with the Despised and the Deadtowners (last minute add to the Tally bill). Chris, travelling separately with a friend gets separated from the caravan, gets lost, doesn't know where he is and his cell phone battery runs out as Matty feverishly attempts to guide him in from GG Central. Hilarity continues.
Back at the motel Bryan brings the grub and throws down his unique brand of "Southern Hostility" with a full smoked ham spread including gravy and biscuits.
Off to the venue and after we found the right door we load in to the club. A full night of "the ROCK" is delivered to those in attendance.
What went wrong: Chris' driving adventure
What went right: The ham!

Town: Orlando, FL
Gig: Backbooth
Well rested our caravan sets out having added the fellas of Moral Decline to the cavalcade of whimsy though we bid adios to our new friends in the Despised. Another 5 hour plus day on the road brings us in to Orlando with just enough time to check in the hotel and head out to meet Pete, out contact in Orlando. We consume enough wings and beer for 8 at a local pub while enjoying the NBA all star game "skillz" competition. Well, at least it wasn't nascar.
Afterwards we head back to the the Backbooth and catch sets by Tooth and The Enamels, Moral Decline and Suburban Lockdown.
The show is mayhem from start to finish. Birthday boy Pete leads the charge down in the pit.
What went wrong: Meeting our downstairs neighbor, a turn down the wrong street while trying to find gas.
What went right: Meeting the rest of Orlando
